The game formerly known as Hamster Maze
Developer We Dig Games has announced that Hamster Maze is no more. Kind of. The game has been renamed to Hamster Playground. Why? The developer has explained in a press release that the decision to change the game’s name is to make it even more appealing to players and the new title should do the trick. Will it? Maybe. I know I find it more appealing, but I’m also a man child who plays on the swings when I take my kid to the playground. Each to their own.
The game has also been delayed. Hamster Playground was initially set to release Q1 2022, but has now been pushed back to Q3 2022 as the development team has taken on the task of adding even more to the game, meaning Hamster Playground will launch with five game modes as well as local and online multiplayer.
But all is not lost as there is a free demo available on PC as part of this year’s Steam Next Fest. So if you want to see just how appealing Hamster Playground is, you can take your little rodents for a run this week with the free downloadable demo.
If you don’t want to spoil the fun by getting an early taste, but you still want to know a bit more about the game and how it plays, check back here at The Games Cabin over the weekend for our preview based on the demo.
Hamster Playground will release sometime towards the back end of 2022 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
