Losing a horse in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be some of the most sickening, heart-wrenching moments in video game history. I mean it. When I drove my horse Hotpants off the edge of a cliff, I was inconsolable for the rest of the day.
Dejected, alone, I slowly trudged my way through Hyrule, a world I had no interest in saving without my trusty steed by my side in the game.
Luckily for you, I’m here to save you from the same heartbreak. Here’s how you can revive your horse in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

For those who have played Breath of the Wild, you may remember the literal life-saver that is the Horse God Malanya.
Malanya makes a return in Tears of the Kingdom, but finding him is a bit trickier this time around.

If you want to bring your horse back from the dead, you’ll need to travel to the Akkala region. Head towards the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab and use an Endura Carrot to lure him out. These can be found on Satori Mountain.
Once you’ve made your offering, talk to Malanya to revive your horse. You can revive any horse you registered at a stable, no matter how long ago they died. Hotpants lives!
Malanya can also upgrade your horse’s stats in exchange for a cooked meal, meaning my beloved Hotpants might actually be useable for once. The meal depends on what stat is being upgraded, and what level it is currently at. Sleep in a Malanya bed at a stable to learn the recipes in a dream.
