The original secret final boss of Pokemon games, Mewtwo – the iconic #151 – is not surprisingly well-sought by Pokemon GO players old and new. However, the legendary psychic Pokemon cannot be randomly found whilst wandering around the map like with normal Pokemon. Here is how to catch Mewtwo in Pokemon GO.

How To Get Mewtwo In Pokemon GO
The only way to get Mewtwo in Pokemon GO is through five-star raids. This isn’t all the time, though – with various legendaries taking the five-star raids spots each month. Mewtwo last appeared in one of these raids in June 2022, so hopefully it will be appearing again soon.
When the time comes, however, being of the highest raid level, you’ll need to be sure you battle Mewtwo with at least a couple more players too in order to deplete its HP in time. Since it’s a Psychic, using Pokemon with Bug, Dark, and Ghost-type attacks would be ideal.
Once you and your raid partners defeat Mewtwo, you’ll each get the chance to catch it for yourself. You will still be only able to use Premier Balls, so be sure to have plenty of Razz Berries – or ideally Golden Razz Berries, to optimise your chances for success. Once the capture’s complete, congratulations! You’ll now have a Mewtwo of at least 2200CP to add to your team.
If it’s Armored Mewtwo you’re looking for – released back in early 2020 promoting the movie, Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back – Evolution, the higher-defence Mewtwo, unfortunately, hasn’t appeared in the game since.
