The developers of Infinity Blade: Dungeons, Impossible Studios, are sadly being closed down after Epic Games decided that the arrangement wasn’t working out for them.
In an open letter on Epic’s website, Epic’s Tim Sweeney explains why the decision was made and what it means for Infinity Blade: Dungeons:
“We’re closing Impossible Studios.
When former members of Big Huge Games approached Epic last year, we saw the opportunity to help a great group of people while putting them to work on a project that needed a team. It was a bold initiative and the Impossible folks made a gallant effort, but ultimately it wasn’t working out for Epic.
In addition to providing Impossible Studios employees with 3 months of severance pay, we’ll be giving the team the opportunity to form a new company with the Impossible Studios name and the awesome Impossibear logo.
This means that Infinity Blade: Dungeons is now on hold as we figure out the future of the project.”
It’s always unfortunate when people lose their jobs, no matter what industry it’s in, at the end of the day its people out of work bearing the pressure of uncertainty and insecurity for their career and future.
Hopefully the three months severance pay goes some way to helping out those who have lost their jobs, and even better if they find their ways into employment again sooner rather than later.
Still, there is always the possibility they may go on to form a new company with the Impossible Studios name and create some great entertainment.
