In a new press release sent out by mega-publisher EA, we’ve received the official cover art for NHL 16.
And it’s bloody awful. No – seriously, it looks like a botched Photoshop. The cover, which features Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane holding the massive Stanley Cup trophy over their heads, is quite unlike any NHL game cover before it.
To start with, it’s the first time that two players have graced the cover of the annual sports franchise. Secondly, it’s the first time the Stanlely Cup has featured on the cover, and thirdly, it’s the first time we’ve ever looked at a sports game cover and gone “eurgh” out loud.
Check it out below.
NHL 16 launches on Xbox One and PS4 this September 15th in North America and September 17th in the UK and Europe. The PS3 and Xbox 360 will both still be getting NHL 16 this year, though in the form of the “Legacy Edition,” which is basically just last year’s game with roster updates. So a bit of a rip-off, then.
