Recently, online mega-outlet Amazon listed the upcoming Fire Emblem Fates for the 3DS. OK, nothing surprising there, we already know it’s coming West sometime in 2016, but what we don’t know if exactly what’s coming.
The latest Fire Emblem game for the 3DS has taken a leaf from the Pokemon book of releases by being split into two different versions, though each offer their own narratives. The two versions for the West are Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Fire and Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest, the latter of which is listed on Amazon.
Amazon’s original listing for the game was just ‘Fire Emblem Fates’ but the product listing page has since updated to reveal that the version listed is the Conquest version. What this means, we don’t know. Over in Japan players are able to choose their original version and then purchase the other one as DLC. Whether this will be the same deal for the rest of the world isn’t exactly clear. It’s entirely possible that we’ll just see the Conquest storyline get a retail release with the alternate being sold as DLC only. Then again, it’s possible Amazon just hasn’t gotten around to adding the product page for the Birthright and Fire version.
We’ve sent off an email to Amazon to see if they can clarify the situation as well as the game’s publisher Nintendo. In all honesty though, we don’t really expect to get any confirmation from either, but it’s worth a shot, yeah?
What do you reckon? Would you be alright with having one game available via retail and the other as a digital-only release? Head on down to the comments below and let us know.
