We’re pretty stoked about the upcoming Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, but one aspect that we’ve been wondering about for a while now is how EA will shoe-horn in the inevitable multiplayer aspect that’s become a standard in most games these days.
Well, according to the product listing page on Amazon.com, Mirror’s Edge allows players to appear in the worlds of other players.
“Pre-Order Mirror’s Edge Catalyst and get the Combat Runner Kit at release. Fight for your freedom and show off your perfect technique and power with the Combat Runner Kit in Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. Get unique in-game items such as a combat-themed Projection Shader, changing how you appear in other player’s worlds, a Runner Tag to stand out in the leaderboards, and a unique background to customize your Screen Hacks.”
Whether this means we’ll see some sort of player vs player action in Mirror’s Edge Catalyst isn’t entirely clear. We’re leaning towards the possibility of asynchronous multiplayer rather than full on PVP events, because, you know, there’s no guns. Still, racing is a real possibility.
Mirror’s Edge is set to front-flip onto PS4, Xbox One and PC on February 23rd 2016.
What do you reckon? Does Mirror’s Edge Catalyst need a multiplayer mode, or is the single-player campaign all you’re interested in? Hop, skip and jump down to the comments below.
