When you think of e-Sports and their place within sports in general, you don’t really imagine the kind of controversy that usually surrounds actual sports. You know, drugs, prostitution, match fixing and the like. Well, it turns out that at least one of aforementioned activities does take place in the nerd-olympics.
Speaking as part of an interview, two pro Counter Strike: Global Offensive players admitted that their teams are always jacked up on Adderall during tournaments.
“We’re all on Adderall, I don’t even give a f**k. It was pretty obvious, like if you listened to the comms… I don’t know, people can hate it or whatever….”
He goes on to say that “you can hear it in the comms. That’s why it’s so funny” going on to state “that’s why the comms are so hectic.”
For the uninformed, Adderall is usually prescribed to those with ADHD as the side-effects include increased alertness, concentration and sense of fatigue, though taking too much on a regular basis can cause insomnia.
So kids, what have we learned today? Well, for starters, e-Sports are a lot like normal sports in the fact that top competitors are jacking up to get an advantage.
We here at The Games Cabin would like to advise against reaching for the Adderall, crack, or any other illicit substance to improve gaming skills. Drugs are bad, yo. Always say ‘no.’
