Well darn it, another game has released and it’s not working properly. To be fair, the game in question is Street Fighter V for the PS4 and it’s not even the full release. The beta for the upcoming brawler has recently gone live, but unfortunately players aren’t having the best of luck with enjoying the game.
Those trying to play online are reporting high amounts of lag that makes the game barely playable. Here’s a visual representation of what the lag looks like.
Yeah, it’s not fun for anyone involved and it really does ruin the experience. The reason for the high latency is being pinned on the fact that Street Fighter V doesn’t isolate players to their regions. So for example, you could be in the UK but playing against an opponent from Argentina which usually isn’t the best situation. Most games offer the ability to choose who you want to play with, allowing players to choose the regions in which the game should search for players. It’s usually a handy option and can improve gameplay online significantly.
It’s not just the lag that’s killing the Street Fighter V beta. Many players are reporting not being able to get online with the game at all as the servers struggle to take on the heavy load. We imagine that this is something that Capcom will be looking into pretty sharpish.
Normally we’d be tearing into a company for releasing a game that’s not working properly, but you have to be mindful that this is just the beta and such problems are to be expected, in fact, it’s why there is a beta.
We’ll keep you updated as more news comes in, but in the meantime head on down to the comments and let us know how you’re finding Street Fighter V’s beta.
