Remember Ty the Tasmanian Tiger? No? Liar. Everyone remembers Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. Ok, maybe not everyone, but here at The Games Cabin we’re quite fond of the little Aussie bugger and his adventures which began quite some time ago.
For the uninitiated, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger first released on the original Xbox, PS2 and was a cracking platformer back in its day. The original spawned a couple of full-on sequels for the aforementioned platforms as well as a GameBoy Advance game and even an iOS installment to coincide with the 10-year anniversary of the original release.
Fast forward a few years and we did finally get Ty 4 – though it should be noted it was an exclusive deal between the developer Krome Studios and Microsoft for the Windows 8 platform.
The good news, then, is that Ty 4 will soon be getting a wider release, though it sounds like it’s only for the PC at the moment according to Krome Studios.
However, that’s not the end of it. The studio has also teased that something big is going down in Krome HQ with regards to the cheeky hero Ty. The studio recently published an interesting post over on its Facebook page for Ty. The image, which you can see below, shows all four games’ start screens along with the caption: We’re getting the band back together…
So another remaster? It definitely seems likely, what with the current popularity (more so amongst publishers than consumers…) of re-releasing old games to kick players right in the nostalgia. Most remasters these days get a lot of flak from players, though we suspect that we wouldn’t hear too much grief if this particular series made a comeback in the form of a remaster.
What do you reckon? Would you be happy to see Ty chuck his boomerang around on the Xbox One and PS4? Or are some memories best left in the past? Let us know down in the comments section below.
