Earlier this year BioWare Austin dropped a stink bomb on gamers by declaring its upcoming action role-playing game cancelled. It had been in development for quite a while and early reports from those who tried it were extremely positive. Alas, it wasn’t to be and the game got canned before it could see the light of day.
BioWare Austin then went on to work on Dragon Age: Inquisition and Mass Effect: Andromeda while Shadow Realms sat in the cold, begging to be made. While EA had called for the game to be chopped, there was still hope that once BioWare Austin had finished its duties elsewhere, the studio would perhaps pick up the pieces and finish the game off.
Unfortunately that’s not very likely to happen as EA has not renewed the trademark for Shadow Realms. Earlier this month the mega-publisher abandoned the game’s trademark after because “no Statement of Use or Extension Request timely filled after Notice of Allowance.”
It’s a shame, as from what we heard was that the game was a corker and although it was initially in development for the PC, it could have come to the PS4 and Xbox One had sales of the PC release and fan demand been acceptable.
