Backwards compatibility on the Xbox One was a surprise announcement during this year’s E3; we literally didn’t see it coming, yet here we are weeks later with tons of extra games to play without having to fiddle around with the cables behind the telly. It’s handy as hell, especially if you’ve got a large backlog of last-gen titles to work through.
One thing that wasn’t quite perfect with the update was that games didn’t receive updates or patches, some of which really, really needed them. Thankfully, then, Xbox 360 games are starting to receive updates and patches to make the emulation run a little smoother and provide a better playing experience. Not bad, eh?
We’re loving the backwards compatibility at the moment and can’t wait to put Crackdown through its paces before Crackdown 3 smashes down next year. We’re just forgetting Crackdown 2 ever happened…
How’s backwards compatibility treating you? Are you using it much? Which Xbox 360 games would you like to see made backwards compatible with the Xbox One? Give us a shout down in the comments section below.
[Correction] The author may have caused a bit of confusion with the closing paragraph by saying “Crackdown is getting put through its paces” before the next installment arrives next year. What was meant to be said is that it will be getting put through its paces, once it is available via backwards compatibility. Silly man. Apologies for any confusion caused.
