Another day, another delay. Damn, we’re a poet and we didn’t even realise it…
Today’s delay is the Wii U exclusive Star Fox Zero which was originally set to launch sometime later this year. Nintendo’s Miyamoto has explained that the team want to give the game some extra polish so that players’ expectations aren’t betrayed. This means cut-scenes are being given some extra work to perfect their tone and really drive home the story being told in Star Fox Zero. Level designs are also being tweaked and worked on to give players the “unprecedented discovery” experience.
Miyamoto also states that it would be possible to launch the game this holiday season and be done with it, but instead he and his team have chosen to put in the extra hours to make sure it’s the best possible game it can be.
There is some good news, though – it’s not being delayed for that long. Miyamoto says that the game will be on track to release in Q1 2016, so we can expect Star Fox Zero to land sometime between January 1st and March 31st.
It’s a bummer that one Nintendo’s biggest releases of the year won’t be on shelves this Christmas, but if it means the end product is better than just “shippable” then we don’t think too many fans will hold a grudge towards Miyamoto and Nintendo.
