You might remember back in June when Microsoft came out onto the stage at E3 and announced the shiny new Xbox One Elite controllers. Well the controllers are launching later this month and for a steep $150 you could be taking one home with you. What exactly makes a controller worth $150? Well for one you can swap out parts to find the setup that suits you best, so for example if the standard d-pad just doesn’t make the cut you can swap it with one that suits you better. Perhaps the new controller’s coolest feature is the fact that it lets you remap the buttons to whatever suits your play style best.
Well according to Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra, via Twitter, the ability to remap buttons will be coming to all Xbox One controllers in a future update. Here’s exactly what he had to say in response to a fan question on why all Xbox One controllers don’t have button-mapping “it’s coming for all controllers soon.” It sounds like Microsoft is confident that the new Elite controller will be worth twice the price considering the standard controllers will eventually have one of its most talked about features. Only time will tell if the new controller is worth the extra bucks or not, but we’ll have a better idea when they launch on the 27th of October.
