That’s right; the title says it all. One can insure their Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain via micro transactions. Basically, what this means is you can walk into GameStop and purchase MGS V, then you can insure your physical disk against damages by paying GameStop, then when you get home you can insure your digital base by paying Konami.
All in all you’re protected all round. Think about it, if some stealthy fella breaks into your home and snaps your MGS V disk, GameStop has you covered. If that same stealthy fella then raids your FOB in MGS Online, Konami has you covered. That’s real and digital protection against the stealthy among us!
Here’s how Konami puts it: “Your FOBs are always at risk of coming under attack. Now you can rest easy with FOB insurance (paid service). If you sign up for insurance, then during the insurance period you will be compensated for any materials and staff lost due to rival infiltrations.” In layman terms, if somebody fultons away your goat the insurance will provide you with a replacement goat.
