There’s a new game releasing on the PS Vita next week, October 13th to be precise, and it’s a corker. Super Blackout isn’t what you think it may be, so before you go crazy with thoughts of intergalactic space battles or whatever else, let us explain.
Super Blackout is a puzzle game, and on the surface it seems like a really simple one. That’s not the case as it’s actually quite an addictive little puzzler and a welcome addition to the PS Vita’s library of games.
We’ve been playing a preview build for over a week now, but even still we can’t fully describe the game. The basic concept is that you have to turn the game screen black by tapping the appropriate tiles. It starts off really easy and you’ll fly through the first few levels, but it’s once we start getting to the double digit levels things get a little hairy and our brains start to hurt.
It’s not the prettiest game of all time, but it doesn’t really need to be. The on-screen graphics are simplistic, minimalist and very clean, much like the gameplay itself. There’s no fancy explosions, no dreary narrator, just a good puzzle to kick back with.
That’s all we’re saying for now, though, as we’ll be posting a full review in the next few days, so if you’re in the market for a cheap and cheerful brain teaser for the Vita, check back soon for our final thoughts.
