Nintendo has a new console on the horizon. “So soon after the Wii U?” we hear you ask. Yes, so soon. It’s not even that far away from releasing, if what we believe to be true is, well, true.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, development kits for the Nintendo NX are being passed along to developers at this very moment. The development units are said to be packed with some top-end tech that includes “industry-leading chips”.
The Wall Street Journal also suggests that its sources close to Nintendo reckon that the new Nintendo console will release sometime in 2016. It’s not a far-fetched idea, really: we even predicted that Nintendo would release a follow up to the ill-fated Wii U. We also predicted that Nintendo would go mobile, so perhaps we’re the ones that you should be listening to, not that prat Pachter…
There’s nothing official from Nintendo yet, but we’ll keep pressing the firm for information and report back as and when we learn more.
One thing we can be almost certain of is that the console won’t ship under the NX name. It’s a code-name for the console, so expect that to be cleared up in due course. Wii U 2, anyone?
Looking forward to a new Nintendo games console, or do you think the Wii U still has some juice left in it?
