Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 received a critical mauling when it released lasts month on the PS4 and Xbox One. It’s more than likely that the game will receive similar treatment on the PS3 and Xbox 360, too.
It’s due out on November 10th of this year, but oddly enough most retailers have now changed their expected release dates for the last-gen version of the long-awaited sequel.
Amazon UK’s listing page for the title just says that it’s unavailable at this time and its release date is still TBD. Across the oceans Amazon USA has a placeholder date of March 31st, 2016 whereas Gamestop has also changed its release date to the last day of this year aaaand we’re gonna stop listing retailers now – you get the point.
It’s a little odd that there’s been no announcement as of yet from Activision, but we’re hoping that perhaps this change is date will mean that the game will be a better product due to the delay. However, it’s also entirely possible that the game could quietly slip away and never release on the last-gen systems at all. We’re not sure which would be preferable, but it wouldn’t be unexpected; Mortal Kombat X disappeared in a similar manner.
We’ve reached out to Activision to see if there’s anything the publisher can tell us. We’ll keep you posted here at The Games Cabin should we get a reply.
[Update] The article heading originally read: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 Might Not Release This November. It has since been changed to reflect new information that we’ve received.
After contact Activision we can confirm that the game will not be releasing this November, but will instead release next year. Activision couldn’t give a specific date for release, but instead stated that it is expected by March 31st, 2016. So, all six of you who are waiting to get your hands on Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 will have to wait a little longer. It’s for the best, honestly.
