Earlier this year Rise of the Tomb Raider released to critical acclaim on the Xbox One and Xbox 360, though naturally the Xbox One edition fared a little better than its last-gen counterpart.
A PC release has been on the cards for a while now, as has a PS4 release which is slated for “Holiday 2016,” however, the PC release may be a little sooner than most had anticipated. Microsoft paid Square Enix for timed-exclusivity on the Xbox family of consoles, though that time is surely up. The official Steam page for Rise of the Tomb Raider has gone live over on the Steam store and it clearly states “available January 2016”.
We’ve known that the PC release would be out sooner than the PS4 edition, but we didn’t know it would be this soon. Amazon France recently listed the game for a January 29th release, so perhaps the French arm of the online retail giant was actually right. It’d make a change…
There’s no other information provided at the time of writing, so we’ve no idea what sort of system requirements are needed to run Rise of the Tomb Raider on PC. We can assume that you’ll probably need to ditch the Pentium III, though. We’ll keep this one atop the ever-swaying rumour pile until we hear something a little more concrete, but we’re cautiously optimistic that Rise of the Tomb Raider will hit PC in just a matter of weeks.
