It feels like we’ve stepped back in time with this news story, but bear with us. Crystal Dynamics shook the gaming world when it developed and released Tomb Raider back in 2013. The game was an origins story for Lara Croft and a bloody good one, too.
Fast forward to this year and we’ve seen the same game release on the PS4 and Xbox One as remastered versions, but we’ve also had a sequel on the Xbox One and PC with Rise of the Tomb Raider. However, if you’re a gamer who only games on Linux PC systems then you’re in for a nice little surprise: 2013’s Tomb Raider is almost ready for you and it’s only three years later…
There’s no solid release date as of yet, though the developers, Feral Interactive, assure us that it’s “coming soon”.
“We are delighted to be bringing one of gaming’s best-loved franchises to Linux in the exhilarating form of Tomb Raider,” said David Stephen, Managing Director of Feral Interactive. “It traces Lara’s evolution from amateur explorer to battle-hardened survivor in an amazing adventure that Linux gamers will relish.”
Tomb Raider will be available from the Feral Store, Steam and other third-party stores, and will retail for US $19.99, £14.99 (inc. VAT) and €19,99 (inc. VAT).
Below is a trailer. Is there any point in watching it? Probably not…
