The kart racing genre is known for having local multiplayer, so a Disney Speedstorm split-screen mode would be expected. It would be fun to roll around Monstropolis with one player racing as Sulley while the other drifts around the corner as Goofy. Does Disney Speedstorm have split-screen local co-op, however?
- Disney Speedstorm Twitch Drops are available, but you have to watch specific streamers to do it annoyingly.
Can you play Disney Speedstorm split-screen?
The colourful kart racer Disney Speedstorm does indeed have split-screen, albeit hard to find. To get to Disney Speedstorm split-screen, go to the main menu. Now, find “Local Freeplay.” It’s underneath “Regulated Multiplayer” and has Donald, Jack Sparrow, and Belle on the tab. Press the A button (cross button on PlayStation) to access it.
Now, you can select “2 players.” Keep in mind while playing this mode, you can’t progress your missions from the Golden Pass. We guess that the developer Gameloft is afraid of players taking advantage of the system by having two players finish missions for each other in an easier-than-expected manner. It’s also a shame that the Disney Speedstorm split-screen is limited to only two players.
The neat thing about the Local Freeplay mode, however, is that you can try out all of the characters without having to unlock them.
- Don’t worry, Disney Speedstorm will be free to play eventually.
Disney Speedstorm’s online multiplayer options
Despite the game only letting you have two players split-screen, you can play with up to eight players, including yourself. Under where you found “Local Freeplay,” you’ll spot “Private Track” on the main menu. It has a few cars displayed in its tab. Go to create your race and then you can have your mates join the lobby. Share the race code on the top right, and they’ll be able to have races with you. You can change your racer and race settings on the bottom right.
A nice benefit from Disney Speedstorm‘s multiplayer is that it’s crossplay. This means that anyone can join the room, no matter their system. You can have a Switch player in the same lobby as a PlayStation or Xbox owner of the game. The Disney Speedstorm split-screen may be limited, but crossplay will certainly open up the game’s multiplayer.
