What is the Blood Moon in Tears of the Kingdom?
The Blood Moon in Tears of the Kingdom is an event that occurs every 7 in-game days in the game’s day/night cycle. After every 7 days, you’ll experience the Blood Moon event.
The sky will start turning red, which can be a pretty terrifying (and cool) experience the first time it happens. You’ll see glimpses of enemies, which means they’re being respawned into the world.
Essentially, the Blood Moon controls the number of enemies in Hyrule, the world of Tears of the Kingdom. When it occurs, it will reset the state of all enemies on the map – including ones you’ve already killed. So, prepare to see enemies in areas you’ve already cleared!

What does the Blood Moon do in Tears of the Kingdom?
Any enemies you defeated will return to the land of the living, and camps will be re-populated. This ensures you can’t clear a whole area of enemies forever, and you’ll always have more enemies to fight.
The Blood Moon in Tears of the Kingdom will also reset certain items. Overworld items, such as the random ingredients you can pick up, will be reset when the Blood Moon event occurs.
This means you’ll be able to restock your supply of certain ingredients if you already know where to look. It also means you’ll technically never run out of those items, as they can always respawn.
