It’s been rumored for a long time that Apple would be bringing out a smaller, cheaper alternative to their costly full fat models.
With Apple set to host an event on 23rd October, just 3 days before Microsoft is set to unveil Windows 8 alongside their Surface tablets.
Many experts and industry analysts are suggesting that the iPad Mini will feature a screen anywhere between 7″-8″, putting it in the position to take on Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Google’s Nexus 7.
The predicted price stands at around $299-$350 or £250-£300, making it a good deal more expensive than the cheaper alternatives. Apple will be hoping to sell on brand name and recognition, but will that be enough to make people shell out more for the same?
One draw for the device will be it’s gaming capabilities, with a vast amout of App Store games available for free or less than £5, it’s easy to see why many flock to them for their gaming on the go fix. But choosing an iPad over a dedicated handheld? I’m not sure. You can get some good games on mobile devices, but without the dedicated physical controls of the Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita, it can’t compete on the same level.
