In a surprising announcement completely out of the left-field, Sony San Diego announced that MLB The Show 22 will be coming to Nintendo Switch.
The announcement
It was announced at an event revealing that Shohei Ohtani, superstar pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, will be the cover star for this years standard edition entry. MLB The show 22 will be releasing on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/series, and Nintendo Switch.
MLB the show 21 was the first entry to be released on Xbox One/Series after MLB itself requested Sony San Diego to release the series on multiple platforms.
This is welcome news for switch owners. Sports games are a genre that have been relatively ignored on the Nintendo Switch since it’s launch in 2017.
Sure we have NBA 2k21 and NBA 2k22, we also have a bare bones FIFA port, but fans are still begging for franchises like Madden and MLB The Show. With this new release, which is set for April 5th, it’s a step in the right direction.
Sony San Diego reported that we will have cross save, cross progression, and cross play throughout all consoles, which leads us to believe it will be a fully ported experience featuring all the game modes. The cross save and cross progression will be great for multi console owners. This will be the first time the series will be released on a hand held console since the PS Vita.
MLB The Show 22 is available for preorder now with a standard edition and a collectors edition featuring a star that has yet to be revealed on the cover.
