Independently developed and published games rarely see great success, but that’s not the story for Minecraft.
The popular survival/craft/open-world/bricky game has managed to sell over 20 million copies across all platforms. Most big games would be happy to sell half of that amount, so the fact that Mojang (the games developer) has managed to push the boundaries of what was previously thought impossible for indie developers is a marvel.
Minecraft is available on PC, Xbox Live Arcade, iOS and Android, with the latter two being Minecraft: Pocket Edition variations.
I’m not a massive fan of Minecraft, I’ve given it a go of course, but I’m very much a story man, I like there to be a point to what I do. Still, I’m chuffed for these guys, they deserve every penny they’ve made and I applaud them.
