Update 31.03.2022 6AM GMT: Sony has confirmed April 2022’s PS Plus games, and the leak was 100% accurate. Bravo, leaker.
Original story:
The PS Plus April 2022 games lineup has supposedly been leaked by a serial leaker on the French deals website Dealabs.com.
So what are April 2022’s PS Plus games, at least according to the leak? They’re… games, that’s for sure. And as is usual, not every game will appeal to every player, and there’s likely to be a little blowback from fans if this leak does turn out to be accurate.
According to the leak, PlayStation players will get Hood: Outlaws and Legends as their PS5/PS4 monthly game. This one isn’t too bad, to be fair, assuming you’re a fan of online multiplayer games. Hood: Outlaws and Legends is an online-only game. I reviewed it last year and I wasn’t taken in by the concept, sadly.
The other two games are Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, which isn’t a bad game at all. In fact, it’s downright fun and you can check out our ancient review here. Whether you’re a grown adult who still enjoys a colourful 3D platformer, or a parent looking to keep the kids quiet for an hour or two, Spongebob: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is a solid game.
And lastly, Slay the Spire, which is a deck-builder roguelike and that sentence right there is enough to turn me away. If you’re not a fan of deck-builders or roguelikes, you’ll probably feel the same.
Bear in mind, this leak is just a rumour until Sony officially announces the PS Plus April 2022 games lineup, which should be soon considering that the freebies will be due to drop next week. Expect an announcement from Sony today, then.
It’s also worth noting that Sony is widely expected to announce its new subscription service this week. How that will bear on PS Plus remains to be seen, but it’s interesting all the same.
