Developer Superbot Entertainment, creator of Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale, no longer has ties with Sony. Sony confirmed it’s working agreement with Superbot has now ended, just days after Superbot themselves had laid off many of its employees.
Sony sent out this statement:
“Sony Computer Entertainment can confirm that the working agreement with developer SuperBot Entertainment has amicably ended,” a Sony representative told Kotaku. “We have had a positive working relationship with this talented studio, and wish them the best of success in their next endeavour PlayStation All-Stars: Battle Royale and the title’s forthcoming DLC releases will continue to be fully supported by Santa Monica Studio.”
Since Sony clearly owns the IP it is possible we may see a potential sequel in the future but for now, any hope or speculation on a sequel in development is squashed at this point.
