Activision have announced the next entry into the Skylanders series, with the latest addition titled Skylanders Swap Force.
Not a great deal is known about the latest addition to the series, other than it serves as sequel to Skylanders Giants.
Set to release later this year, Skylanders SWAP Force will feature around 250 new character combinations and will probably play just like the last one, albeit with minor gameplay changes. So if you ever want to achieve 100% completion, be prepared to buy a lot of little figurines for the game.
Skylanders SWAP Force will release at some time in the Autumn of 2013 on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U, whilst separate versions are being developed for the Nintendo Wii and 3DS to make the most of their respective input methods.
No word on a PS Vita version as of yet, but I think it’s far to say that Activision wont be bringing Skylanders to the handheld any time soon. I think it’s fair to say after the abysmal effort put in with Activision most beloved franchise, Call of Duty, the publisher isn’t so keen to put out another mediocre title on the platform.
Parents, be prepared to fork out the cash for your kids who will no doubt turn the air blue until they get their game, then be prepared to fork out even more cash for the figurines needed to complete the game. Oh the joy’s of parenting…
