Something that Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes succeeds in is consistently giving you new items, characters, and classes to play with during the entirety of the game. Towards Chapter 10, you’ll finally gain the Merc’s Whistle. Here’s how to get the Merc Whistle in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes and what it does.
How to retrieve the Merc Whistle in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes
The tension has risen over the land of Fodlan as the war reaches its climax in Chapter 10. It will take you a long time, so we recommend finding a local friend to play with you. At the beginning of this part of the game, you’ll receive a notice that your clan leader wants to talk to you. Press the R button on your controller and then fast travel to Edelgard, Claude, or Dimitri, dependent on the faction you have joined.
At first, you’ll be introduced to the Battle Suggestions feature. You’ll be at a long table, discussing the matters of war. Your decisions in this mode will affect the prowess of certain classes in the game for the upcoming battle.
What’s more important, however, is the cutscene afterwards. The protagonist Shez reflects on a whistle he gained from his past. This can be given to a character, and in exchange, you’ll gain their Unique Action Ability when equipping the item they give you. However, some things to consider is that you’ll only have one Merc Whistle and you can only do this with characters who have an A support level with Shez.
Once you’ve decided who to give the Merc Whistle to, talk to them like normal around the camp. A new option will appear below “Invite on an Expedition” called Merc Whistle. It will then double check to see if you really want to give this gift away. After doing this, you’ll gain the character’s special item in return. For example, Ashe gives you the book Loog and the Maiden of Wind.
How to Equip the Unique Action Ability
To equip this item, so you can use their Unique Action Ability, go to “Convoy” on the main menu and pick Shez. Next, select the second equipment slot and choose your special item at the bottom of the list. With Loog and the Maiden of Wind, your stance will now change to a Wind formation. With this or any other special item equipped, you’re now ready to battle.
Unfortunately, when you reach an A rank with a character, there are no romantic elements attached in the game. It’s one of the biggest differences between the mainline games and the Warriors side series. However, there are some slight hints of them being interested in Shez in the cutscenes.
