Remember the Thief series? The stealth series that started out on the humble PC? No? No problem, we’ll sort you out, because Thief 4 is coming sometime next year.
The series has been on hold for a while now, but back in 2009 we got confirmation that Eidos Montreal was developing the latest entry, with Square Enix as the publisher, but since then we’ve heard very little on the project, and at one point we even thought it may have been cancelled in favour of Eidos Montreal’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Now, we have some solid information on the title, with more to come in Game Informer’s April edition, which you can check out the cover of below:
According to Game Informer, Thief 4 takes place in the City, an “industrial metropolis” that Garrett, the chap you’ll be playing as, calls home. The City is ruled over by a political tyrant known as the Baron, with the City “broiling with social tension as it is ravaged by a plague.” That’s not all, to survive the perils that the City throws at you, “Garret will have to pay attention to his environment and make us of the many possible paths through each of the game’s levels.”
Just in case you’re wondering, that is about Thief 4, not Dishonored. No doubt they share similarities, quite a few to be honest, but Thief has been around for over a decade and I’m pretty sure it’ll stand apart from Dishonored, but hopefully it won’t deviate too far from its origins, though there are rumours of a multiplayer mode…
Thief 4 is set to release on the PC, PlayStation 4 and other next-gen consoles, according to Game Informer, so it may not see a release on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 or even the Wii U.
There’ll be more information on Thief 4 in Game Informers April edition, so be sure to check back in with The Games Cabin for a run down around that time!
