Free-to-play games are becoming more ingrained with the home consoles, and Xbox Live title Happy Wars is definite proof that there’s room for free-to-play within the living room and the sacred consoles, whether we like it or not.
Toylogic, the developers behind the Xbox Live game recently announced that Happy Wars has over 2 million players listed on the leaderboard, making it a moderate success, considering it’s a free-to-play title.
Game director Yoichi Take has even stated that Toylogic will be continuing support for Happy Wars, aiming to keep improving and updating the game in the future.
“We always continue to make improvements on improvement to have millions Happy Wars fans be happy. We’d like to continue to deliver additional updates in the future.”
Happy Wars is certainly a fun game with enough content to keep you playing without having to buy into the game, but as is true with all free-to-play games, if you want to have the best equipment and the best chances of winning, you’re going to have to shell out some cash for the goodies.
With the next-generation of consoles around the corner, the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s next Xbox, free-to-play games are going to become more common, though it’ still safe to say your standard retail games will remain at the forefront for a long time to come. Hopefully…
