God of War: Ascension is a damn fine hack-and-slash title with plenty of killing to please your sadistic side, you even get to play as a man who wears very few clothes, exposing his diamond hard nipples throughout the entire game.
Yet, it’s the title of a certain trophy within the game that has received more attention than it should have, and now due to cries and pitchforks of people who aren’t able to comprehend written text within the context of a video game and its intended humour, the Trophy is being re-worked via a patch that will soon be delivered by Sony Santa Monica.
The Trophy in question is named “Bros Before Hoes” and is earned by defeating one of the main villains of the story, who happens to be female and the encounter takes place in a brothel. Yes, in a brothel. Where the word ‘hoe’ would more than likely be considered a term of endearment.
The Trophy will now be renamed “Bros Before Foes” to satisfy the idiots who were unfortunately born without a sense of humour. We mustn’t be angry with these people, we shouldn’t despise them either, instead we’ll pity them for having such a small mind. Poor bastards…
Sony Santa Monica issued the following statement on the matter:
“We have created and will soon push out a patch for God of War: Ascension that alters the title of one of the game Trophies. The text was offensive to some members of our community and impacted their enjoyment of the game, we are endlessly committed to ensuring that our community can fully enjoy the experiences the team has created. As such, we’ve addressed the feedback and amended the Trophy in question.”
As you may already have guessed, I think this is pathetic and amounts to little more political correctness gone ape-dung. It’s a bit of humour, get over it. Imagine if people had made enough noise about Grand Theft Auto IV? They’d have us walking Liberty City saving kittens from trees whilst going on speed-dates with barley water.
God of War: Ascension is still a great game, even if one of its Trophies is getting nuked. You can read our review of God of War: Ascension here.
