Bad news for Wii U owners who were hoping they might enjoy some Battlefield 4 on their new console, it will not be coming to the Nintendo Wii U.
This comes straight from DICE’s creative director Lars Gustavsson, who took some time to explain to VideoGamer as to why Battlefield 4 won’t be available on the Wii U.
“I think overall for me as creative director, number one is to deliver a really great game and experience,” explained Gustavsson . “Sometimes, at least for us, it’s focus on what you do well and what you know well, and ensure that you deliver something good than trying a bit too much, stretching yourself too thin and risking it.
“I’d rather play it safe, deliver something really good and then look at the future and what could possibly be done than trying a bit too hard and [failing].”
It sounds to me at least, that it’s not impossible for Battlefield 4 to release on the Wii U, but the main focus is getting it out there on the consoles that are sitting in the homes of tens of millions rather than putting in the extra work for just a few million.
It may see a release sometime in the future, maybe once the money has been made on Battlefield 4‘s initial release DICE and EA may see a reason to port the title the Wii U. It’d be a shame to see the Wii U get overlooked on another big franchise, it’s a sturdy console with a growing install base and is just begging for more big releases to draw in the customers.
We already know that Battlefield 4 is a confirmed title for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, with no official confirmation on the PlayStation 4 or Microsoft’s next console, though I think we can pretty much assume it’s coming to them as well as current generation consoles.
