As promised, Activision showed off their next-generation Call of Duty title during the Xbox One meeting with Call of Duty: Ghosts.
The publisher confirmed that the game would be running on a new next-generation game engine and that there have been some tweaks the common formula.
Instead of going down the easy route and making Modern Warfare 4, Activision decided to create an entirely new game with a brand new cast of characters set in a new universe within the franchise. Players will now be able to peek around corners and slide on the ground and into cover, as well as providing a canine ally during the single-player campaign.
The multiplayer aspect was also mentioned and we were told that there will be a much more dynamic feel to the gameplay, traps, floods and the ability to customise your online character are just a few of the things that are being implemented in Call of Duty: Ghosts.
To coincide with the first showing of Call of Duty: Ghosts, Activision released 6 new screenshots of the game, which you can see below.
It certainly looks a lot better than recent installments, but making a big deal about peeping around corners and sliding into cover? On the PC versions of Call of Duty you’re able to peek around corners and I’m pretty sure there are a few first-person shooters out there with the ability to slide along the ground, Far Cry 3 instantly comes to mind.
