Sony announced at their E3 press conference that their console would launch for $399 in the US, 399 euros across Europe, and £349 in the UK. They also decided to unveil the design of the console, which they omitted in the PS4 press conference in February.
What was shocking was the difference in pricing between the two rival consoles, as earlier Microsoft announced that the Xbox One would go on sale for £429 in the UK, $499 in the US, and 499 euros across Europe.
What is clearly striking is that once both consoles are released in the US there will be a $100 difference in pricing. I think that Microsoft will have much explaining to do in terms of why their console is so much more expensive as well as highlight what it offers that the PS4 doesn’t.
Funnily enough, that was the first of many blows that Sony dealt to Microsoft. Sony also cleared all ambiguity that was present about the reselling and trading of games.
