Back in 2012 it was announced that there was a Splinter Cell movie in production, with a release date of 2015 being set.
Two years have since passed and we’re no closer to seeing (or not seeing, if he’s any good…) Sam Fisher on the big screen.
In fact, the very first teaser for a Splinter Cell movie goes all the way back to 2005 when Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory was released. The game contained a small teaser video for an upcoming Splinter Cell movie and was even advertised in cinemas, but nothing came of it.
Tom Hardy has since been signed on to play the lead role of Sam Fisher, but with Hardy currently filming British crime flick Legend as well as starring in The Revenant, which is currently in pre-production, when will the British actor find time to gear up as Sam?
With top-tier director Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Edge of Tomorrow) in negotiations to direct, Sam Fisher’s big-screen debut certainly looks promising, but without a solid script even ready yet, we can forget the initial 2015 release date set by the studio.
Ever since Splinter Cell first released all those years ago, fans of the series have wondered what a live-action adaptation would look like, I know I certainly have!
Does the idea of a Splinter Cell movie have you excited? Or are you nervously awaiting a box office bomb?
