Now we’re homeless
PlayStation Home will be disappearing into the digital abyss next year, leaving millions of digital avatars homeless, left to wander through purgatory.
Alright, it’s not that dramatic, but the service is being discontinued next year in the UK, Europe and North America, with the final day of the service being March 31st 2015, though users will still be able to download content until December 3rd 2014, but no new content will be published to PlayStation Home after November 12th 2014.
It’s not all bad news though, Sony has promised “a series of free content” before they lock up PlayStation Home and throw away the key. Those who spent money on the service will obviously be pained most, though the promise of some free content should ease the pain a little.
PlayStation Home started out as an ambitious project in 2008 and since then it’s been used by tens of millions of players, though “due to a shifting landscape,” all those players will have to live without PlayStation Home. What is life without it?! Why Sony, why?!
Too dramatic?
