Who is Wiglett in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? This new Pokemon caught many viewers by surprise during a recent mock presentation called the World Pokemon Ecological Society. While many aspects of Wiglett may seem familiar to long-time Pokemon fans, the latest monster from Paldea is actually quite different from what one might initially think. Here’s everything there is to know about Wiglett in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
- Here are all the new items, moves, and abilities we know about so far in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Who Is Wiglett In Pokemon Scarlet And Violet?
Based on its close resemblance to Diglett, fans might believe that Wiglett is a regional form or alternate evolution of the Kanto Ground-type. As it turns out, those fans would be wrong. Instead, Wiglett is considered a Convergent Species based on Diglett. This means that, although the two Pokemon share many similar traits in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Diglett and Wiglett are actually completely unrelated species.
Back in July, Pokemon leak compiler Centro Leaks revealed that a “regional fake” based on Diglett was on the way. Based on those leaks, it seems that Wiglett will have a Dugtrio-esque evolution. However, official information on that Pokemon is not yet available.
Everything To Know About Wiglett
Wiglett is a Water-type classified as the Garden Eel Pokemon; a fitting classification given its close resemblance to the real-world garden eel. Wiglett likes to live on beaches near water and it has a long, white body that can poke far out of the ground. The species tends to be 3’11” in height and typically weighs four pounds.
In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Wiglett can have one of two Abilities. Gooey, which had previously been the signature Ability of the Goomy line, causes Wiglett to lower the Speed stat of any Pokemon that makes contact with it. Meanwhile, Rattled enables Wiglett to get a Speed boost when it is hit by a Dark, Ghost, or Bug-type move.
