Poor DriveClub. The game can’t seem to catch a break at the moment. First the mixed reviews came out of nowhere and now the DriveClub PS Plus Edition is missing from the PlayStation Store.
We all expected DriveClub PS Plus Edition to go live earlier today with the North American PlayStation Store update, but the update came and went with no sign of the stripped down version of the awesome racer (review here.)
According to DriveClub developer Evolution Studios, the reason behind the delay is to ensure that those who already bought the full release will be able to enjoy it without any erroneous server errors, with the game’s director stating:
“In order to help all DriveClub players who have the game already, we’re temporarily holding back the PlayStation Plus Edition and the My DriveClub app to ease the load and traffic to the servers. This should give players a better chance of connecting to the game servers.”
The servers have been a bit finicky over the last couple of days, but we more or less expect that when a game launches and so many people are trying to get online at one time, but it’s still a bit of a poor show and a huge letdown for those who were eagerly awaiting the arrival of DriveClub PS Plus Edition.
Neither Sony nor Evolution have given any sort of time-frame on when we can expect to see the title release on the PlayStation Store, but don’t hold your breath if you’re expecting it this week. Our best guess is that we won’t see DriveClub PS Plus Edition until the month’s end.
DriveClub is out now on PS4 and there’s even a cheeky PS4 console bundle in celebration of the games release.
