When Crystal Dynamic’s follow-up to the hugely successful series reboot of Tomb Raider was announced there was some confusion as to which systems Lara Craft would be shaking her, er, guns at.
Early on it seemed that the new Tomb Raider adventure would be a timed exclusive for the Xbox One with a PS4 release to follow at a later date.
Unfortunately it seems that Crystal Dynamics won’t be releasing their new Tomb Raider game on the PS4 anytime soon; they’ve just announced that it’s a full-on Xbox One exclusive.
Posting on the official Tumblr blog, Crystal Dynamics confirmed that PlayStation players won’t be able to enjoy Lara Croft’s next adventure in Rise of the Tomb Raider. No specifics were mentioned, but the firm did say that “this doesn’t mean that we’re walking away from our fans who only play on PlayStation or on PC. Those are great systems, with great partners, and amazing communities. We have Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to those platforms this December, and Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition is available on PS4.”
It’s strange move by the developers and third-party exclusives are a rarity in this day and age, so to see Rise of the Tomb Raider being an Xbox One exclusive is a little strange, especially when you consider Lara begin life on the original PlayStation all those years ago.
