The latest PS Vita update, version 3.36, has been released for the nifty little handheld with the usual notes of “system stability.”
However, nefarious hackers who look to exploit the system for various reasons have found that the latest update also blocks one of the more popular PS Vita exploits – the ability to create custom bubbles.
The method for creating and cloning custom bubbles involves manipulating the /PSP/GAME folders which is no longer possible thanks to Sony’s latest PS Vita update.
Prior to the latest firmware it was possible to rename the aforementioned folder to circumvent the protection and allow for the creation of custom bubbles.
Whilst it seems that Sony has left the PS Vita to fend for itself with the lack of AAA first-party games, they are at least giving it a fighting chance of not being molested by would-be pirates.
Not that all who tinker with the device are hackers, but you can guarantee that when the time comes that the PS Vita is finally hacked to play pirated PS Vita games, people will do it.
The latest PS Vita update is mandatory if you wish to continue using the PlayStation Store, trophies and other online-services.
