The Xbox One’s operating system is without a doubt a key feature behind the success of the console, it powers the system and allows for the award-winning features that make the console such an attractive device for the living room.
If you thought the current Operating System is a wonder to behold, you’ll be pleased to know that Microsoft plans on expanding upon the current build with new features, some of which are being tested internally as new builds of the OS release each month.
The Xbox Operating System team is the foundation that Xbox One is built upon. We’re looking for a talented person to join a team of vets of the Xbox One, Kinect, 360, and Xbox LIVE launches.
We own the core operating system and various components that your entire gaming and entertainment experience is built on. You will analyze our customers to help identify and drive to resolution issues and features. This will be done by mining telemetry and help ensure our console is built on a solid foundation for every release. You will have the ability to dive into our code, add instrumentation and see immediate results as our builds are released monthly and we receive feedback early and often from our various flighting audiences.
Role and Responsibilities:
– Identify and help execute a validation plan for new features
– Dive into hard to reproduce issues and resolve them by any means necessary
– Be a customer advocate and ensure our product works well end-to-end and delights customers
– Innovate and improve the efficiency of our test engineering process
The job posting also mentions that they are looking to ensure the console has a solid foundation for every release. Does this mean Microsoft plan on re-releasing the Xbox One under the guise of an Xbox One slim? Maybe, it’s something that players have been asking for since the console launched, there’s even evidence to suggest Microsoft are working on a slimmer Xbox One.
