We’ve seen a lot of developers go under or re-adjust for the more economically viable mobile market. It’s a sad sign of the times but with games costing more and more to produce, develop and market, risks are being cut left, right and center.
Unfortunately it looks like there’s yet another developer shutting up shop – or at least it certainly seems that way.
Spark Unlimited, the developer behind Lost Planet 3, Call of Duty: Finest Hour and the abysmal Turning Point: Fall of Liberty are flogging off their assets.
The firm – which is owned by its employees – are selling off their office supplies at auction. The items up for sale are all the things that one would expect to find in a development studio; HDTV’s, computers, desks, phones as well as microwaves, ovens, fridges and more.
There’s no official confirmation from the firm that they are indeed closing their doors, but it doesn’t look too good from an outside perspective. Here’s hoping all those folks find good work elsewhere.
[Update] It’s true: Spark Unlimited are closing their doors and laying off all staff. Bad times indeed.
