Who is the Sprigatito evolution in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? Leaks prior to the release of the latest Pokemon games provided unexpected insights as to what the Grass Cat Pokemon would turn into. Here’s a closer look at each evolution of Sprigatito in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Sprigatito Evolution: Floragato
While many fans hoped Sprigatito would stay on all fours throughout its entire evolutionary line, the Grass-type starter actually wasted no time standing up on its hind legs. The middle stage of the Sprigatito family is bipedal, with front paws that are capable of holding objects.
The first evolution Sprigatito gets in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is named Floragato. This name comes from “flora,” the Spanish word for flower, and “gato,” the Spanish word for cat. Floragato wields a long-stemmed flower of some kind that has a bend in it, potentially as a faux magic wand.
Sprigatito Evolution: Meowscarada
The final evolution of Sprigatito is the even more humanoid Meowscarada. This Pokemon is a performer at heart and even builds upon the magic motif established by Floragato, as Meowscarada is classified as the Magician Pokemon.
This Pokemon’s name is a portmanteau of meow and “mascarada,” the Spanish word for masquerade. Fittingly, Meowscarada has a black mask that it wears to cover much of its face surrounding its eyes. In addition, it sports a green-and-black cape and a pink collar that somewhat resembles the flower at the end of Floragato’s wand.
Meowscarada is a Grass/Dark-type Pokemon with the powerful Protean as its Hidden Ability. This Ability causes it to change its type to match whatever move it has selected. As a result, a Meowscarada with Protean will have the same-type attack bonus on any move it uses. Likewise, it can be difficult to contest defensively since it is capable of constantly changing its type.
