Last year Ubisoft came under fire for not allowing players to skip around Paris as a female character. It’s not a big deal in itself, but comments coming from the Ubisoft camp certainly caused a stir when they claimed that animating and creating a playable female character was too costly, a claim that many felt was just a wee bit inaccurate.
While we were all stuck playing as your typical male hero in Assassin’s Creed: Unity, it seems that we may get the chance to play as a female protagonist in the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate.
According to sources close to Ubisoft the next installment in the long-running series will take players on a story through Victorian London with a pair of assassins who are brother and sister with both being playable characters.
It’s not the first time that Assassin’s Creed has featured a female lead character, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation on the PS Vita (later ported to consoles and PC) and Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China both feature strong women in the starring role.
At the moment we can’t confirm this to be true, but it’s very likely we’ll learn more this evening during the big Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate reveal.
