Awesomenauts Assemble! has had a pretty successful run on the PS4 since its release last year, but Xbox One players have had to wait over a year to get their fix of MOBA awesomeness.
The game had previously been slated for a release this Summer and has recently been rated by the PEGI ratings board indicating a release very, very soon. The release date attached to the rating states it’ll be releasing on June 30th, but that date has been and gone so expect it rather soon.
The rating also mentions mild bad language, something that this author can’t remember hearing in the PS4 version. Odd, no?
PS4 players will be happy to know that their version of Awesomenauts will soon be getting an update that brings it on-par with the current PC version 2.10. The bad news is that “soon” really means within “4 to 8 weeks,” according to the developers.
It may seem like a long wait, but it’ll be worth it. PS4 players will be treated to a brand new Awesomenaut to take into battle with Nibbs, a very Spyro-like dragon character. Unfortunately Nibbs won’t be free and will cost a couple of dollars/pounds/euros/whatever Greece decides to use as currency.
There are also a plethora of tweaks and changes to balance out the gameplay, most notably the annoying Gnaw will have his weeds changed so that they only live for 30 seconds before dying. Should stop some weed campers, eh?
Another notable change is the re-working of the Sorona map. The current arena will have its lanes re-arranged to induce more unpredictable plays. Don’t be too worried, though, we’ve tried it on the PC and it’s a definite improvement over the old version.
Assuming that the Xbox One version of Awesomenauts launches before the 1.4 update, it’d be a fair bet to say that Xbox One players will be playing more or less the same version as their PS4 counterparts. Parity, yo. It ain’t always bad!
The PS4 release saw Awesomenauts hit shelves with a physical boxed copy, whether the Xbox One version will receive the same treatment remains to be seen, but we’ve shot off an email to the game’s publisher so hopefully we’ll be able to update soon.
