Gearbox’s latest bizarre creation, Battleborn, is due to stomp all over the house this coming February 9th, 2016. It’ll be available on PS4, Xbox One and of course, the PC platform. Before it releases, there’s to be a “technical test” which is just a fancy way of saying it’s a beta. C’mon guys, let’s not get dragged down by fancy terms…
The beta will be available from October 29th on all platforms. The purpose of the beta is to give folks a go of the game and get some feedback on how the network handles the player volumes and what not. Most won’t really be interested to hear how many GB of data will be analysed and how network blahdy blah will affect this and that, as we suspect that anyone signing up for the beta just wants to give the game a go before handing over their hard-earned cash.
There are still keys being provided over on the official Battleborn website and it looks like they’re being given out rather freely, too. You’ll have to sign up for yet another game account in order to get your code. Once you do have your code, you can then go ahead and download the beta which will tax your hard drive around 4.2GB on PS4 and around 6GB on Xbox One. Not too heavy, then.
Battleborn is a multiplayer shooter from Borderlands developer Gearbox, and it’s being published by 2K Games. The game has been knocking around the news circles since its announcement back in 2014, but this closed beta will be the first time that most people will have been able to go hands-on with the game. We’ll be giving it a go today, so if you’re not able to run around causing mischief yourself, check back in with The Games Cabin and we’ll give you the run down. Good lads, we are. [Correction: We won’t actually be able to post any screenshots, videos, or even write about the beta, as per the non-disclosure agreement that comes with the privilege of playing the game early. Sorry.]
You can download the beta client now, but you won’t be able to access the game until the servers go live. They’re due to go live at 1pm EST/5pm GMT.
There’s a trailer down below, but it really does seem like Gearbox has missed a golden opportunity to partner with The Killers on this one. The Las Vegas rockers’ latest album has the exact same name. There’s even a song called Battleborn. C’mon, it makes sense.
