You’d be forgiven for assuming Fallout 4 was holiday 2015’s most anticipated title, but you’d also be wrong because according to Nielson Game RankTM the most anticipated game this year is Call of Duty: Black Ops III. How does the Nielson Game RankTM system work? Well in a nutshell it only considers titles being released between the 1st of October 2015 and the 31st of December 2015, it then collects data by surveying more than 4,800 gamers between the age of 7 and 54. The surveys took place between the 24th of August and the 19th of September 2015, but you can read more about their methodology by clicking on the source below this article.
Alrighty let’s take a look at this years most anticipated titles starting with the multi-platform releases. As we already mentioned Call of Duty: Black Ops III is the most anticipated game as it holds a Game Rank of 98%, but Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG, Fallout 4, is nipping at its heels with a ranking of 95%. Interestingly the umpteenth entry in the Assassin’s Creed series, Syndicate, is tying with Fallout’s 95%. Rounding off the most anticipated multi-platform games are: Need for Speed with 92%, Star Wars: Battlefront with 88%, Rise of the Tomb Raider at 80%, and finally Rockband 4 at 76%. It’s probably worth mentioning only games that achieve a Game Rank of 70% or above can make the list.
Ladies and gentlemen it’s time to take a look at the most anticipated exclusive titles for this holiday season. Halo 5: Guardians is top of the pile over on the Xbox One holding a Game Rank of 100%, not too shabby Halo! The PlayStation 4 doesn’t exactly have an abundance of exclusives as we move towards the holidays, however Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is leading the pack over at Sony with a rank of 79%. PC’s most wanted is Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void with a ranking of 91%. Vita actually has games! The most anticipated of them is Corpse Party: Blood Drive at 76%. Yoshi’s Woolly World crowns the Wii U’s list at 91%. Lastly the 3DS’s most anticipated game is Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden at 88%.
There you go, now you know what games the majority of people are looking forward to this holiday season, thank you Neilson! If you want to bring out your inner hipster, even more than stripey PlayStation socks ever could, you could always go against the list and buy Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, but don’t. You’ve been warned.
