A few days ago Activision announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 wouldn’t ship with the highly anticipated campaign mode. It’s fair to say that this has left a few people seething, but the reasons are sound.
As such, the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions of Treyarch’s first next-gen Call of Duty will only have multiplayer and zombies. Thankfully, nobody is going to be misled when they go shopping for their shoot-em-up fix as the box art on the last-gen editions has a couple of slight changes.
For one, the background is brighter and the ‘III’ isn’t as pronounced, but there’s also a very handy notice on the box, too. It says quite clearly that the game will be only multiplayer and zombies and that an internet connection is required to play.
It’s disappointing, sure, but at least Activision isn’t trying to trick people into buying the stripped down product. Still, that $49.99 price-tag seems way too high considering a third of the game has been done away with.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 releases on November 6th for PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
