Kickstarter has become the go-to place for developers to get the funding they need to create their games without the creative constraints of a publisher.
One of the latest Kickstarter campaigns comes from veteran developer Koji Igarashi – the dude behind the Castlevania series.
Igarashi’s latest project, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has managed to hit the $1 million mark in less than 24 hours. The original goal was for a rather modest $500,000 with a few stretch goals in place to help give that a bump up.
One of those stretch goals was to bring Metal Gear Solid‘s David Hayter on board to do some voice acting. He may not be a part of Kojima’s Metal Gear franchise anymore, but at least he’s got a gig coming up and won’t be booking down at the Job Centre for too long.
After reaching the $850,000 needed to secure Hayter as part of the voice cast, the team have added a couple of new stretch goals including local co-op and cheat codes. £50 says they won’t be using the Konami code…
